St. Hilda’s Musical –“Dare to Dream”
St Hilda’s Primary School is pleased to present to you our musical – “Dare to Dream” staged at The Republic Cultural Centre, Theatre on 26 November 2008.

The musical “Dare to Dream” is a tale of a boy, Dave, who is always very sad as his friends all seem to be better than him in everything. He wishes for special powers and magical presence to make him well-liked by others. His wish sets him on an amazing journey where he meets colourful fairy tale characters that help him to discover himself.

This musical is a culmination of talents from all six levels where song, dance and drama come together into one colourful production. It promises fun and entertainment for people of all ages. We invite you to be a part of this musical extravaganza.

There are two shows on 26 November 2008 at 3.00 pm (matinee) and 7.30 pm (Gala Night). Tickets are available at $12 for the matinee and $20 and $30 for the gala night at our school’s General Office. Ticket orders and details can be found on the booking form attached. For booking enquiries, please call 62606030.

Two merchandises will be on sale this year; a T-shirt and a DVD of the Gala Night performance. As supplies are limited, we encourage you to pre-order these limited edition merchandises. For the t-shirt, sizes range from M to XL. The DVD features behind- the-scenes and production shots as well as the recording of the entire performance. Fast facts about the musical:

A. Rationale:

· An initiative by the English, Music and National Education Department, with the following objectives in mind:
To provide a platform for our pupils to develop, express and showcase their creativity, talent and ability
To instill in them an appreciation of the language arts & aesthetics
To provide an opportunity/platform for pupils of the different religions and races to work together as one family.
To enable pupils to experience the rigour and understand the commitment of being a part of a production team (resilience)
To imbue in them positive character and moral traits
· We also believe that the musical will shed light on many learning moments that will render our pupils in good stead in their future endeavors.

*** This is actually our second musical. The first one, “ Waves of Wisdom was staged in Nov 2006@ the Drama Centre

D. Who is involved;
Everyone.
This is really a whole school production and each and everyone of you will be involved in making it possible!!! From props, to costumes to stagehands, we will need your help in one areas of more to make this musical a success. In you have an area that you particularly would like to be involved in, do let us know asap ya. We will try to assign you based on your strengths, passion and interest as far as possible.
Together we make it happen!!!
